I've been looking for a solution for using my Desire for GPS tracking on my mountain bike for a while now and ideally I'd like an armband holder of some sort. Problem is, all the ones I've seen are basically clear cases that advertise the fact you have an expensive phone on your arm. I don't really want a handlebar mount cos my riding gets pretty rough so is there something that isn't either of these that anyone has found?

I know its a bit vague but you catch my drift.......right? Lol

I am looking for some kind of handlebar mount with speakers as I think it is safer than having ear phones on full blast while cycling the roads.
Soo if anyone has seen anyhing that can help let me know.

How about this one from Hilly:
HILLY Neoprene Arm Wallet: Amazon.co.uk: Sports & Leisure

Hilly are a well respected brand for runners, I've got a water belt from them that's lasted years. Reviews say it fits the iphone so the desire should be fine.

If that's no good then I'd try looking on specialised running sites where there tends to be a better range than general sportswear shops (e.g. try Sweatshop, Up & Running, Achilles Heel)

Last time I went out on my bike I just fired up the gps and chucked the phone in my bag,it tracked fine.I know it's not a solution but just to put it out there that it works even when covered up in a case inside a bag pocket.

    I have 2
Nike+ Sport Armband for iPod nano 4G on eBay (end time 21-Jun-10 20:45:23 BST)

this one is the most snug although I had to cut out a slit for the earphones

the other one makes my arm sweat a little more but i tend to use this one when im out running as it holds my keys too

New Armband for Mobile Phones mp3 Sports Gym Arm Band on eBay (end time 06-Jul-10 18:33:30 BST)

the second one requires no modification for the earphones.

the desire fits well in both and holds it securely, the nike one will give you more protection against stones or dirt though as it fully covers the phone

Did anyone get one of these or anything else?
Want to buy something soon and looking for reviews on any bike holders for Desire.

I gave up on my search as there are no bike mounts that look sturdy enough. GPS seems to track fine from my pocket and I can run the headphones lead up inside my t-shirt too so sorted.

Thanks for the post. I prefer the look of B004BATL6Y for about the same price.

I just started using this not long ago. Cheap and has a nice, custom fit for the Desire's shape. My only problem is that the ring is too small for my bike's handlebars, so I had to modify it myself.

Bought one of these bike mounts from Hong Kong,it doesn't fit on my oversized bars, didn't even think about that when I bought it.

    Good job it was only

I'll take it off your hands for three quid. A spare one isn't a bad idea.

ordered the ultimate add-ons case and mount from amazon then wondered about the cable coming out of the case for my headphones which is going to take away from the waterproof nature of it so i ordered this as well :

Nexxus Bluemusic PRO Stereo Clip Bluetooth headset: Amazon.co.uk: Electronics

Nexxus Bluemusic PRO Stereo Clip Bluetooth headset to plug my headphones into, decent write up and if using my own headphones, rather than those supplied, sound should be much better

Living in scotland, feel full waterproof might be required lol

Will let everyone know how i get on

That sounds excellent. I might get a few myself. Please post back and let us know how well you found it works with your Desire.

Both items came yesterday and while I havent yet been out on the bike, I couldnt be happier with what i bought.

waterproof case fits like a glove and even better thats with the hydro gel case I have on the phone, so added protection is still there and I dont have to take it out of case to use it.
Clip that holds it on place on my handlebars & to the case feels sturdy enough, but i guess this is used on motorcycles it should be fine for me on my bike with stablisers by comparison lol

bluetooth clip hooked up to phone on first attempt and with my own headphones sounded superb with only one issue which was easily solved....

bluetooth clip has forward and back buttons as well as volume buttons, with the stock player on the phone only the volume buttons worked, back and forwards did not

But then I downloaded a different player (mixzing) and all the buttons now work ... great news

with the all now in place, I switched on Edmondo app I use for tracking my cycle etc and when I pressed the music player button on it, it gave me the option of which player i wanted as my default, so made that mixzing and now everything has fallen into place.

Soooo looking forward to going out tomorrow morning to try it all in anger.

Would recommend them to all or spalsh out a bit more money on the bluetooth clip if you want a longer battery life between charges
