A lot of the mainstream manufacturers are talking about holding off their release dates till after Google releases Gingerbread and support for tablets.

I've love to get a better tablet... but for now I'm going to wait to see who actually releases a new tablet.

At the moment, I am looking at:

    Gen 8 Archos 101 tablet.

    Viewsonic G tablet.

    Augen's Espresso/doppio tablet.

    The Samsung galaxy tab.

i'd rather not pay for another 3g service, otherwise that samsung tab looks sick.

Prolly going with the Galaxy tab when it is released on VZW, I don't mind having to pay for 3g.

i thought that the galaxy was only going to be offered in 3g. if there is a wifi only version i'm a happy guy. thanks for the heads up.

I think the Subsidized versions will have WIFI as well, just the fact that you have to buy them on contract and all that.

Read that article on here earlier, I think 399 is kinda high for something on contract, especially since you can get a wifi Ipad for 100 more...

Yes, but then you're getting an iPad then aren't you? ;) They'd have to pay me to get me to take one of those things. :D

I've only got respect for Apple. By making a device look pretty they can charge twice as much for something with half the functionality.

The post above says it all, even though the Galaxy Tab is superior in almost every way Samsung needs to be competitive with pricing or people will just pick up an iPad.

That's my point, I don't want an Ipad but can't ignore the fact the it would be a cheaper alternative to the Galaxy due to the data plan and msrp.

I'm leaning towards the Archos 101. If the Galaxy tab comes down in price I would consider it. I will not pay for 3g when I have a hotspot with me all the time.

ViewSonic G-Tablet is a 9.7" screen with 16:9 ratio. It is one of very few tablet that may be out this year that will match against iPad in screen size. It is slightly thicker than iPad, but if you want more flexibility in file management at a lower price G-tab may be good solution. It does not have 3G service though.

PanDigital Novel 7" eReader/tablet is on sale this week for $149.99. It offers great benefits such as Android OS and direct link to Barnes and Noble online bookstore. Sale price is good through 10/16.

Based on history, there's about a 0% chance that arches will upgrade to any other version of Android on this model. I've washed them for 2 years. They only have 1.5 on their first Android model or 1.6.

Arches drops support as soon as they come out with a new model.
