I'm at my friends lake cabin, but the signal here is God awful. Nobody's phone can get a consistent signal, even on 1x. The nearest Verizon tower is a few miles away and it doesn't help that there are hills in the way. Text messages are the most reliable form of communication. But it keeps bouncing between 3g and 1x murdering my battery.

Its not huge deal since I'm doing stuff during the day, but browsing the web would be nice for killing downtime at night.

I would just like some tips on boosting a poor cellular signal. If it helps, we have a cellular booster attached to the TV antenna, and some tin foil. :)

I hear Apple makes a case you can put on your phone that boosts the signal ;)

Nothing you can do to boost your signal as far as I know without having to add some kind of equipment to it.

That's what I thought. I figured out that if you are on the bunk bed, you can get one bar of 3g. Still a bit flakey, but better than nothing.

dial *228, option 2. Also, if your rooted, make sure you flashed the radio that came in the latest update.

Reprogram your phone whenever you switch cities. *228 and do both 1 and 2.

Other than that, you're kinda SOL.

If you live in an area that was previously serviced by Alltel, you can load the PRL for Alltel and, by chance, get better signal.

Well I'm back home now, where I have a pretty good signal, and my 3500 battery isn't destroyed in a matter of hours.

But I suppose my Eris was pretty doing a pretty good job of maintaining a signal as best as it could. It was a pretty crappy signal. They have one tower servicing what seem like 20 miles. My friend's mom's Blackberry Tour 2 couldn't even get a signal out there, while I could at least get 1X most of the time.
