Hot phone

This phone gets very hot to touch if I leave it on in a small cloth carrying bag. Don't think it should. Any suggestions?

If by "on" you mean "with the screen on" then actually I can believe that. It shouldn't otherwise.

Something is generating the heat, so either an app running and using a lot of power or something constantly downloading. I'd check your system monitors to see what has been using power.

I had the same problem recently with my GS7 from AT&T. The phone would get Iron hot on boot up (that part is exaggerated). I found out it was because of the Liveboot app by Chainfire. I had it set to show too much of the logcat on bootup. After I changed the settings, It didn't get nearly as hot anymore.
