Help Hot to Factory Reset?

Hi guys
am sure there have been many questions i tried reading as many reset questions as I could

But the issue I am having is ..... when i go Settings -> Security
there is no option for factory reset. I need to reset it cuz i bought the HTC hero off a friend who bought and used it in Germany.

It dosent even connect to the PC for a Sync

To reset the phone
1. Press HOME > MENU, then tap Settings > Security > Factory data reset.
2. On the Factory data reset screen, tap Reset phone and then tap Erase
everything.

To reset the phone using phone buttons
1. With the phone turned off, press and hold the HOME and BACK buttons, and
then briefly press the END CALL/POWER button. The reset process will start
after a few seconds.
2. Wait for the phone to finish the reset process and then press MENU.

If your phone hangs or freezes, remove the battery then wait for a few seconds, and then re-install it. After re-installing the battery, turn on the phone.
