I just upgraded my S2 to ICS and rooted it, no problem. ICS is good, but my data plan still gives me crappy performance on my S2 as compared to my Note. WiFi hotspot, net surfing, Play Store downloads, etc. are all much faster on my Note. I thought maybe ICS would improve this, but the Note remains significantly better than the S2. Any opinions as to why the difference is so pronounced?

I'm asking because I'm debating whether or not to get an S3. Mostly, I need the Note's bigger screen, but I'm totally prepared to waste my money on the S3 just for the fun of playing with a new toy. But I was wondering if there's any reason to think that the S3 will offer better data performance than the Note? If so, I'd almost certainly buy it just for that. But there's no practical way to really test that feature in the store, so if there's nothing about the S3's specs that promises better data speeds, then I'm more likely not to bother with a new toy until the Note 2 or the S4.
