Help hotspot in my Samsung Galaxy prevail

Hi I also have a samsung galaxy prevail on the boost mobile network. I dl pda with foxfi and the mobile hotspot worked for 1 day. The next day my laptop sees the connection and will connect but it has no internet. It says local only. I've tried rebooting pc and phone both several times but it still has no internet. I think my service provider has blocked it, how do I get around that do I have to root my phone ?

I have samsung prevail and I tried rooting it and I used shabby 1 click but all that happen is a reboot but I'm not sure if it rooted so is it suppose to look different after because I tried to tether with tether for rooted but it said I'm not rooted so did I do something wrong?

Please do not quote me but someone told me about an app called foxfire. It can do wireless hotspot on any device. Except HTC. Doesn't need root access. I haven't checked because all my devices can do wireless hotspot, HTC and all.
