How about them docks

Not sure with the other droids, but the original one had it bad, if you used a dock you could not have a case.

The Bionic got it right, Love that I don't have to take my new buddy and strip him nude.

That's just rude.

I don't use a case, so I don't have any issue with that, but I used the HD dock overnight and the desktop clock mode is a bit better than it was with the DX. It dims low enough not to light up the room and there are no issues with the softkey LEDs. The dimming is also automatic so no need to manually switch back and forth. The clock mode doesn't have as many customizations but there is a productivity mode that seems to be more flexible (I haven't played with it much though).

The car dock basically does what you would expect. So nothing big to report with that, but there is a neat little button on the side that pushes the power button since it is covered by the dock. Clever and much easier to press than the power button on the DX when it was in the car dock.

I like the productivity mode. I think that will be a lot more useful than the old dock mode of just the clock.

I was shocked that the docks had inserts that we can remove for cases... made me very excited! Glad they took that into consideration.

I guess none of you have tried the shell (from the shell/holster combo) with the car/navigation dock. It can be forced to fit, but they are clearly not designed to work together.

I ran into the same issue with the shell/holster combo and both the standard dock and the car dock. Neither fits well and I have found that neither will make the proper connections to charge the phone while docked. For now I am removing the shell when I put it in either dock.

Looking for a replacement shell/holster. Let me know if you find one that works please.

Thanks.

The Nav Dock does work with the shell. I use it and it does charge the phone as intended. The only thing that doesn't work is the pass through power button on the side.

Yes, it is a tight fit, but that doesn't mean you can just say it doesn't work.

I love the dock. I use it as my clock now. My old clock was like having a blue neon sign in my room, but now, I have the Bionic. It's really cool to see the brightness go waaaaaaay way down in the clock mode, it's dim, but very readable, and even shows the next alarm time, and the first even of the next day.

I got the Costco bundle with the docks. Bedside dock is handy so you can wake up and see the time. But when set to music the volume is awful low on the phone, and the dock makes no difference. Navigation dock is well designed. The power input is hidden, I only found it today...I thought there was no power input to it till just now!
Google Navigation is fabulous. In contrast, Bing for Android sucks! Bing for Windows Mobile has voice turn by turn directions and had good GPS fix, but on Android, the GPS fix jumps for a couple of miles around every few minutes, awful maddening. I don't plan to use Bing for maps anymore on my Bionic.
