I'm a student and very interested in cloud programming/computing. I want to make my own cloud network, so that I can do interesting things with stuff like Docker containers, and learn the basics of how complicated systems like Google Compute engine work. Is this reasonable or is it too ambitious?
I found FE private cloud beta test on xda forum. I am joining its beta test! Hope you guys will give it a shot! http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/apps-games/file-expert-v7-beta-invites-to-test-t3107745/

Yeh you can. Just rent a bit of online server space with GoDaddy or something, for a few bucks a month.

Is it secure by renting some online server?

Your last sentence. I was simply stating that we can do anything we put time and effort into. I was attempting to encourage you. A year ago, I was a construction worker. I decided to find a new focus and yesterday I had 100 downloads. Right now I need a private cloud.

They rent you some cloud space, put whatever you want on it. But bare in mind if it becomes compromised or hacked, GoDaddy, the host, will take it offline, so yes it's secure.

Basically it's up to you to keep your code, like your "cloud network" project good.

Seagate Central is my personal cloud. Probably not what you mean though.

Good for you! I'll keep studying on private cloud. What do you mean by 100 downloads? An App?

PogoPlug subscription came free with my external hard drive. It creates a personal cloud drive.

Unlimited storage with PogoPlug with $49.95 a year? PogoPlug seems concentrate on files backup.

If you're interested in Docker container virtualization, you definitely need some sort of server space, rather than just a simple place to dump files. Services like GoDaddy, do rent online server space, either Linux or Windows server. Microsoft has Windows Azure cloud computing services.

You could run it on your own computer of course for experimenting personally, but it's not really cloud and online of course. But if it's just for learning, might be the best thing to do.

An Android Operating System for PC's. I did not design it. I have modified it and made an easy installation technique. Kind of like a custom ROM for your computer.

HighTail, nice name. Cloud for business seems a new trend.
