Hi, sorry if I join the conversation, I have the exact same problem as geo1230 and do not have the market app installed. Is that why we have an issue ? Where can we get the app ? Do we also need to change something into our google account ? Thanks a lot for your help.

    Gyxson.

You need to add your device to your Android market account. When you go to the site version, at the top you'll see "My Market account", after you click on that you'll go to another page, then you click on the "Settings" tab, and you should be able to add your device there. I am not exactly sure how to do it from there, it's been a while, I'll look when I get a moment.

Have you signed into your phone with your google account? On your phone...

Menu > settings > accounts and sync

And you should see your account if you have, if you haven't signed into your phone with your google account, select "add account" then select "google" and sign in with your ID and password for your google account.

I have the following order: Menu>Settings>Applications>Email (it's one of 9 choices, "buttons") >email accounts>my gmail account.

I have signed in from the internet (on my phone) and from the Menu>Email>my gmail account.

Are you sure the phone is running the Android operating system? You have the Samsung Star II?

After doing a couple of searches, it doesn't look to me like it is :( I think you were misinformed. I did a check on the specs of the phone and it doesn't look like it's an Android phone... does look like a pretty nice device, just a different OS than I'm used to. One way you can check is, go into your settings, and look for "about phone", and check to see what is listed there.
