Help How can I disable the lock button on my HTC One M8?

The lock button is stuck down and HTC quoted me $350 to fix it. It's a manageable defect, but it would be so much easier if I could just disable the button so that I can use the home button (right now it just screen shots whenever I press it since the lock button is stuck). Also it keeps trying to restart my phone every few minutes.
HTC tech support says they can't help me, is there anyway to just simply disable the button? Please help!

You can buy an used one off eBay for under 140 so ever told you that price is ********.

Not likely.

Try blowing some compressed air in the area around the button. Build up from accumulated "pocket/purse lint and shavings" can stop function of buttons and plugs. I was shocked to see how much lint my brother pull out of his malfunctioning headphone jack.
