any way to do that? i need to do a warranty exchange. i unrooted but cwm is still there :/
Download and place to the Sd card the CWM de lopping zip file located on the first page of the CWM thread posted by Shabby, go into CWM with the connect and run the de looper zip (install zip from SD), then reboot the phone. That should remove CWM
appreciated will try before i do the swap
I have a phone that also needs CWM removed. I had already done what you suggested and while the original factory wipe was back, ROM Manager is still telling me that I have CWM installed and even knows what version. Are there traces being left behind maybe? Is this anything to be concerned about?
I was hopeful that the LG Update tool would have wiped the device, but I was disappointed to find it only updated it, restored the Metro bloat and unrooted the phone.
Any help is greatly appreciated.
ya same here actually rom managet detects cwm??
I think it really comes down to how thorough they are. With the tool from LG that takes care of any rooting and deleted bloat, and if you apply Shabby's delooper prior to doing that you essentially have the phone cleaned up except for whatever ROM Manager is seeing (since I did test and confirm CWM won't boot using any methods tried and the button trick just wipes the phone like normal).
Unless someone knows what it is that ROM Manager is still seeing, I may just try as is and see what happens. Unless they have some special check for those CWM traces then I don't suspect they'll find anything.
Still a little paranoid about it though..
How are you using ROM manager of you're unrooted, I thought you had to be rooted to use RM's features???
Anyways ROM manager might be seeing the CWM folder or the CWM.img file if that's still present on the sd. I'd take the CWM folder copy it to my desk top (pc) then delete the folder and CWM img file on the sd and that might stop ROM manager from seeing it. But I'm pretty sure that as long as it doesn't boot into CWM and there aren't any signs of superuser in the device they'll exchange it no problem. I don't think they go thoroughly into the device searching for root or CWM though when you go in for an exchange, I could be wrong thouh.
correct it reads the log file off the sdcard
is the lg tool method confirmed to remove root?
It wasn't rooted, just thought I'd open the app for the heck of it and see what it indicated. When it indicated that I actually did root the phone again just to see if maybe it would refresh (no such luck). I tried removing the clockworkmod folder from the sd card, but ROM Manager still says I have CWM on the phone.
If you guys say that it is gone and the only traces are logs on an SD card then I'll take your word for it and leave it at that.
Also to answer your question, yes using the LG tool does remove root.
Just FYI, I tried turning off the phone and removing the SD card completely, but ROM Manager still said I had CWM installed and still knew the exact version. I then wiped the data for ROM Manager again and with the SD card out that seemed to take care of it.
Only putting the SD card back and adding the clockworkmod folder back got it to think I still had the recovery installed, so it did work and the app just had an additional cache it was using.
Considering I'm wiping the device, removing CWM, taking out the SD card and running the LG tool I think that's about as thorough as I can be.
I have an LG45C I need to relock and unroot. CWM 220.127.116.11 is currently installed. I can't find shabbys post with the link to the zip file. Can you include the link in your reply?
Sure I can upload it for you, gimme a minute I'll have a link up.
There you go, flash this while in CWM and it'll remove it from your device.
All credit for the file in that link goes to Mr. Shabbypenguin be sure to thank him for this great tool
Thanks for uploading the zip so fast at 4shared.com
I installed the Loop Delooper on my LG L45C and the installation aborted. Rebooted the phone and found CWM still installed.
It was worth a try. Thanks again.
I'm kinda wondering why you're on the Connect side of things.
I believe shabby made this specifically for the connect, I'm not sure it'd work on other devices even if it's running the same version cwm. Sorry bout that..
ugh wtf use 4shared??? people have to reg to dl, and it well just plains sux.
plz post link to aformentioned thread. I've been looking for 10 min and cant find it
