How do I access the dialpad during a call?

I have my phone set to where i just have to press the power button to end calls, I dont have to swipe. However when calling automated phone systems i often have to use the dialpad to navigate the menus but my screen is locked. If I press the powerbutton to unlock and raise the dialpad my phone disconnects the call.

1) is there a workaround?

2) if not how do i set it back to normal? Ive forgotten how to adjust that particular setting and i cant find it anywhere.

1. Don't know if there is a another way to bring up the dial pad...

2. As far as I remember, go to Settings and then Accessibility. The option is there.

I had the same problem when I 1st got my phone . As far as I know , there is no work around for this issue .
