How do I add music to my droid eris

every time i plug my usb to my pc my pc says device not recognized and when i look at the top of the phone it has shows its connected but when i tap the icon it asks me to select a connection type but doesnt ask me anything about mounting it. Is there something im doing wrong?

Choose as hard disk then copy paste into music folder. If there is not one, create it
