Its just your background to your phone, so i don't think there is a way to change it.

    1. download pics you want to use as lockscreen.. there are somme on the phone.

    2. home screen > menu > setting > personalize

    3. select what u want

so easy.. you should have been able to find it..
Spend some time exploring your phone.. there is a lot that you can do ...without to much hassle.

    have fun :D

    ^That doesn't work, guy.

Try it yourself before trying to make someone else look dumb?

I don't think you can change it from the baclground image that's already on... Although if you don't want the home screen or you want a widget to come up when you unlock then you can do that.

Just leave the widget or screen you want up before the screen locks that when you unlock it will be there instead of the home screen.

    Ok fellas ..

To the op... I am sorry.. I saw wrong.

I have the hero on Android 2.1 and it works that way on my phone. I just thought it would be similar. Don't even know why it would not do that.

    My bad...
