How do I delete albums?

I have searched, but can't find the answer to this. I have some albums that I want to delete but the Eris doesn't give me a trash icon when viewing them. I did connect the phone to my computer (running Windows 7) but the folders from the sd card were shown as "empty". Any help would be appreciated!
