Root How do I get a bricked phone into download mode?

I bricked my phone flashing a rom a couple days ago, because, you know, I'm ******ed, but I can't get it into download mode so I can flash back to stock. I've tried all the button combinations but all I get is the battery charging screen. I believe it was cog beta 8. Anything else I can do?

Have you removed your battery,External Card(if you got one) and Sim Card. Replace Battery. Holding down you 2 Vol. Buttons plug in USB Cable that is attached to your Computer. This might get you to Download.

Make sure you are holding volume up and down and then plugging in the usb cable without hitting the power button. Also if that doesn't work then you need to get a usb jig to get you into download mode.
