Root How do i get free tethering now that i am rooted?

I have tethered with and without root. Although, I only use tether for my Android Tablet.
Your usage will really determine if you are going to get a nasty letter from AT&T. If you hit torrents and use gobs and bandwidth, then yeah, you are going to get the smackdown.
I have yet to get the letter because I just do normal web browsing and not much else.
Depending on the ROM you are using, it will be different, however, I am pretty sure they all have tethering or wifi hotspot on them.
What ROM are you running? I can try and find out.

if you dont have tethering, they will bill you. if you have the old $30 it will change to $45 for 4gb.

Fortunately, I am on the grandfathered Unlimited plan... However, they still try and bite those of in that plan to a tethering plan which puts us on a 2GB data package with Tethering.
I spoke with a few customer service reps and those that pull mass amounts of data by trying to run their whole house off the tethering or trying to torrent/game off of it, yes, they are going to get a nasty letter.
Those that use it whole on a bus to connect to work or just surf the web are not going to get a letter. Same with those that use the tethering to let their tablets on the net.
It's all about being smart. I have been tethering on AT&T for years. The most I do is check emails from my laptop and periodically need to remote into some servers to work, over all, it's about being smart on usage.
It's the few bad apples in the bunch that screw things up for everyone else.
Get "Wireless Tether for Root Users" As long as you don't abuse it (i.e., d/l torrents or massive files) you shouldn't have any issues. The carrier will just see it as data used by your phone as if it was surfing the net, playing a game, or watching youtube. I just use mine in cases where I can't find another internet connection when I'm out of the house.

Get barnacle in the market to tether, it's free and easy to use.
Anyone know if the Android apps use the phones normal data APN or a alternate one? It sounds like this is what was giving away iOS tethering to AT&T.

I have a wireless tethering app, i turn it on asnd it says therthing is on but when i try an conect my ipod to the internet it says no internet connection, when i try and click "portable wi-fi hotspot" to check it the phone automattically resets, im using CM7 rom....Anyone know how to get this working or maybe another app that works with CM7?
