I've downloaded a ringtone onto my new zte blade 3 phone (its currently in the download area), but how do I move it to the ringtone file so I can use it?

You need to use a file manager app to copy and paste it to the new location just as you would on a PC - usually to a folder called ringtones. Most phones have a file manager app as standard but if you need one I would suggest using ESfile manager from Playstore. (free)
