Root how do u use superoneclick?

i downloaded superoneclick v2.3.2 to try to root my phone with 2.2.2 update. and i really dont know what to do. i open the .exe and click root but it says waiting on phone or something and then asks me if my OS is 2.0 or higher so i click yes and nothing happens. can someone like give me a step by step process how to properly attemp to root.

Use gingerbreak Google it pretty simple all done on phone
