Root How do you change the Slot Cycle on a rooted Evil Eris phone?

My brother called me last night and said it rang 5 times for him but I picked it up in the MIDDLE of the very first ring and dialing ##788 doesn't do anything anymore. Not cool. What now?

Edit: ##778 doesn't work either.

Try this: http://androidforums.com/all-things-root-eris/97714-slot-cycle-index.html (specifically, post #5 http://androidforums.com/all-things-root-eris/97714-slot-cycle-index.html#post915731 or post #7 http://androidforums.com/all-things-root-eris/97714-slot-cycle-index.html#post921495)

Yeah, you might want to ask the dev if they're going to put the EPST program back into that ROM... Good luck!

P.S. I searched the XDA forums and apparently the EPST program is an .apk?: How to restore EPST.apk under /system/app? - xda-developers -- this is for the HTC Hero though (I wonder if you could obtain the EPST.apk for the Eris and install it?--just an idea)

By the way, these files are on my phone:

# ls -l /system/app/EPST*
-rw-r--r-- root root 116121 2008-08-01 08:00 EPST.apk
-rw-r--r-- root root 505928 2008-08-01 08:00 EPST.odex

I don't know if they are ROM-specific? (I'm running Ivan's Eris Official).

P.S. if you PM me and you want these files, I'll email them to you.

Some sprint based roms like aloysius have epst apk in them but you have to dial ##778 and press # again to initiate the program. Not sure if EE just doesnt have epst or if it might be the sprint based problem.

If nothing works that people have suggested already, you do a nand backup, flash a plain jane stock rom, access the epst program and make your changes, then restore back to your EE rom.

Certainly worked for me, thanks! Just to confirm, that was ##778 (send) #
