I don't think its possible, especially with the very outdated hardware and software of the N72. What is it did you want to accomplish by such a manner? Maybe we could suggest other ways to fix the problem?

Copying sms from Symbian OS to Android OS is a pain...if you had two android devices, it's simple! But I doubt you'll even get the messages in the correct format to be imported into your Android phone properly. Best just to back them up on the PC :)

I don't think its possible to transfer SMS, they are in different formats. You'd have to either transfer them manually via PC. You need to get your SMS into Nokia Ovi Suite/PC Suite and export them. I think they get exported in .csv format if I remember correctly. Then you need to make an xml file with the correct headings layout for Android, then copy paste the data correctly from the .csv file into the .xml file. Then you can restore that to your Android phone using the SMS Backup and Restore app.

However note that when you transfer them to your Android, if they are important messages, you won't still be able to save them as favorites or in folders. Android arranges SMS in conversations. They will be buried among all the other messages from their senders. You would have to get a third party app to be able to view SMS in folder modes and to be able to mark certain SMS as important. You would also have to disable automatic SMS delete, and be careful in deleting threads.

I think he'd be very very lucky if he imported using SMS Backup and Restore and every message actually identified a contact and linked to it. While the method could in theory work, I just don't see it happening.

chanchan gave you the right answer there. Use Nokia PC Suite. It has an sms backup feature buried in there.

please give me directions of how to install and use this software. eg files, ect....

I've used it before but I tried to find the message folder but it was not there or it was blank.

Its been a long time, and I don't have it installed anymore (I've moved on to Ovi Suite a few years ago, maybe that works on your phone?). What you do is run the program on your PC, connect the phone to the computer via bluetooth or cable, and wait for the program to "discover" the phone. Then click on Messages>tools/file>import from phone, or something like that. Its pretty straightforwards I'd think, since the program looks like your phone's menu structure anyway.

For the GS2? Its somewhere in menu>settings>privacy I think.

If you were referring to the N72, try typing *7370#
