Root How do you know if your ROM and kernal work together?

So I'm new to Kernals and ROMS, like I barely started today. I went here <http://evo4g.roms-db.com/> and I'm using a ROM by 00McD00 and it's called ICS (themed). I was wondering if I can use this kernal "ms79723's HTC kernel #15 v7" <http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=876590> with the rom. If so, they provide many options and if you could take a look which one?

ok so first off you need to know what type of rom it is. basically you need to know if it is a sense rom or an aosp rom. if it is a sense rom then you need to know if it is gingerbread or froyo (or ICS as there are full ICS roms but they are aosp roms as of now). you need to make sure that the kernel you flash matches with the rom you want.

so the rom you are interested in is a gingerbread sense rom. and the kernel you are interested is a froyo sense kernel. so they will not work together. for ginger sense roms the kernels that are out are freedom, golden monkey, chop suey, and poon sense(but you need the kernel manager app to download this one).

i would use the http://androidforums.com/evo-4g-all-things-root/284413-roms-kernels-download-page.html to get your roms and kernels. we do a very good job at keeping it up to date. the link you provided is good but not always up to date sometimes.

Thank you, this helps a lot, I will take a look at your website. hopefully it's more detailed then the one I used:)

no worries. it is not a website. it is just a list with links to where you can go to the dev's op to get the rom. the list is nice because it is categorized by type. also there is kernels on the list as well.
