Help How do you tell awake vs idle time?

On my Eris I have more stats under the battery section of the new 2.1 interface, I have specifically up time versus awake time.

How do I tell this on the moment?

I can see the up time under status and under battery use it says 94% android system (for 8 minutes since unplug from the charger) and only 2% phone idle. I have let it sit.

Are these indeed measurements of up time versus idle time?

If so it seems to me that this phone is never sleeping.

No, that isn't awake vs idle time. It just is showing what is using the battery overall. Android system is almost always in the 90%'s.
