Is there a way to silence the sound the phone makes when it powers off and when it powers on?
They want everyone the hear the stupid............D R O I D!
Just turned mine off and back on with the volume set all the way down. No sound. Just vibrates, because I have it set to vibrate all the time.
SD Card Notifications (uncheck)
It only says D R O I D if that's your default notification sound. If you've changed it, then you will hear whatever you have as a defualt for Notifications.
Speaking of sounds etc, does anyone use this app by chance?
Silent Toggle Widget - Android app on AppBrain
I'm looking for something to easily go between, sound, vibrate, and no sound.
Yes. I use it, and it works great. It does exactly what you describe, and nothing else. Not really that much to it, but it does what it says, and only takes up a 1x1 icon space. It occupies one of the few honored spots on my main homepage.
I use Switch Pro Widget to toggle everything on/off and even have one on my lock screen for easy access. I use vibrate at work and like to quickly toggle it on/off.
Extended Controls is pretty good too. I also use that.
Switch Pro is at the top of both screens. Extended Controls is at the bottom of the left screen
How do you put something on the lock screen!
Oh, ouch...nevermind. Wound up here from a web search...didn't realize it was Droid--I have Captivate.
But if you know how to do it on a Captivate, answer OK or wrong forum? Wrong forum; shouldn't mess it up.
Those apps should work on most android phones.
This is Lock 2.0:

I like the Lock's lock appearance better, but had a lot of trouble with the lock not working when the phone started.
Widget Locker also lets you add ANYTHING to the screen.
