Help How fast is the media scan?

Hey guys. My first android device - the galaxy note 2 will be in my hands in 2 days. I bought the 16Gb version and I am planning on fitting all my music (140Gb - About 15000 songs) all in the 64Gb external micro sd card. All my musics are in super high quality so I can compress them to about 40Gb.

Ok so my question is..
1) I heard I have to go through a media scan if I plug the micro sd card in. How long is it going to take to media scan 15000 songs?

2) If I move a few songs to the micro sd after finishing my first media scan, does that mean that I have to go through the whole media scanning process again?

I just transferred 21 Gigs of music to my card and the music player scanned the card in less than a minute.

I transferred an additional album after that using usb transfer and the music player showed it right away without needing to rescan.
