Mine is terrible, I'm on the verge of complaining to T-Mobile, is there anything you can do when you get rubbish download speeds?

I have spoken to them before about it and they tried to brush it off as being in a weak area, which is rubbish!

It looks like you have the speed cap of around 350k on your account. To get it removed you will need to phone them up and complain about it and try and get them to put you on web n walk plus, you should get speeds up to 2 meg then.

    Cheers

That speed test app just constantly says "connecting to nearest server" and nothing happens.

I've found I get slightly quicker speeds using the speedtest.net website with the stock browser instead of running the test through the app.

OK, so I rang up T-Mobile (yeah, I know it took me a while, busy boy you see!), argued for about half an hour, with the bloke on the other end trying to convince me that 356kbps was the fastest download speed they offered, he wasn't budging until I asked to speak to a manager, which he refused so I asked to be put through to the complaints department, which he said T-Mobile didn't have one...

I carried arguing and in the end he did something his end and now I'm getting between 1.5mbps and 1.9mbps, good enough, what's the best the T-Mobile do and is there a bolt on I can pay for to get extra speed?

That is kbps, so about 0.4mbps, not a lot really and was what I was getting.

Who are you with, I'm assuming T-Mobile.

I'd ring them up and argue about the download speeds, don't fall for their lies either, they lied loads to me but I knew what I was talking about (obviously not saying you don't...).

Sounds like he's given you free web n walk+ with the 1.8MB cap instead of the poxy 350k cap on standard web n walk.

For totally uncapped speed you need them to put you on Web n walk Max!

    Cheers

I thought that would be the case, T-Mobile are so sneaky, even after asking them numerous times they wouldn't tell me what package I was on!

I'll ring them tomorrow and get on the Web 'N' Walk Max, would I have to pay extra for it?

As with gibbs i've been stung by T-Mobiles 3g speed cap, despite signing up to a contract (via buymobilephones.net) advertised as unlimited internet. tweeted t-mobile and had a moan on the forums but all i got back was 'read the t&c'.

not best pleased, but even with that restriction its not such a bad deal. their customer services are just plain dishonest though, given the numerous reports such as gibbs' on the responses they get.

Yeah, their Customer Services department was awful, they even refused to pass me through to their manager which is shocking!

I think if you ring them up and argue with them and if you don't get what you want ask to make a complaint they might actually change it for you.

Unfortunately unless you argue with them they'll deny everything and not be very helpful!

Im getting anywhere between about 5 megs down and 11 megs down depending on the location and time of day. When Im at home at off peak times like after midnight I can get speeds around 10 or 11 megs down. Im on virgin mobile Canada.

    1543kbps Down, 314kbps up, 129ms ping.

Orange is typically shite in Cardiff central.

However, I'll run it again later when I'm connected to BT Infinity wifi at home and piss all over that speed, my PC speed tests never drop below 30MBps down and average 6 up, never seen ping below 30ms.

not yet rooted so no screen captures, sorry!
