Accuracy matters more than number of satellites.

Google Maps wins every time. The map data is far more current than any standalone GPS unit. The day your GPS ships, it's out dated. Google Maps selects my route based on the most current data on roads and traffic conditions. I have pitted it against my Tom Tom and Garmin, and Google wins every time.

On the Omnia it was designed that way by direction of the carrier. Assisted GPS is expensive to operate and at the time, was reserved only for applications like VZ Navigator that was a premium service.

As far as accuracy, the built in GPS on the Incredible SUCKS. In the past couple of weeks I can count at least 3 times that the GPS gave me complete bogus directions. One time it even had me turning into a condo complex when I was going to a pizza joint.

That's what I get for thinking my phone would replace my dedicated GPS.

    ^ Surprised to hear that

Don't have GPS Test, but I've had excellent performance from GPS which is all that matters to me. So far I've used it to drive from:

    - DC to downtown NYC (job interview - if things go well might be moving there - yay :))
    - Northern VA to Jersey Shore
    - From DC to various places in MD and VA
    - DC to Baltimore Aquarium

It's worked incredibly well for me.

Why do the numbers matter? The GPS works.

I don't know the numbers, but mine is excellent locks on in a matter of seconds even inside and I tossed my Garmin ;)

I've been very impressed with the GPS on my Dinc. I bought my wife a mid-priced Garmin and it's good, but it doesn't say street names, the Dinc does which is a nice difference, head-to-head. Also, I've been surprised too, at some of the routes that are chosen, and sometimes they are better.

Does anyone think this is because it's considering traffic and time of day when choosing routes?

Sitting in my office: 8 in view/8 in use. 19.7 feet accuracy.

In my house I've seen accuracy at 10 feet.

3rd floor of brick office building not by window. 9 in view 7 in use. 39.4 feet accuracy. In same building at window I get 19.7 feet accuracy. I have been very impressed indoors and outdoors with the GPS. It rivals my Garmin GPS in accuracy.
