I just don't know how people expect a customer service rep to know when the phone will ship. They have no idea, that's not their job. Generally with most items this isn't an issue. You order and it ships same day if before a certain time, otherwise the next day.

Customer Service is not the warehouse. They have no idea when shipments will come in the the specific warehouses. They probably don't even know which warehouse your order will ship from. They also have no idea how many orders are in front of yours. All they know is what Verizon tells them and that's that your phone will ship by this date. That's it. Calling over and over won't change that. Honestly you might get a different answer, but it isn't going to be a truthful one. It's going to either be made up or the gut feeling of someone that actually has no idea.

Verizon tell employees and store nothing. As a store owner I have no clue when we'll ever even be able to get these phones, the Incredible, or the Droid 2 in stock. Your guess is as good as mine until the day they are available. I won't know a thing until then. That's how Verizon works.

I call up customer service and ask them if the device has been shipped; nothing more. I don't ask them when it will ship if it hasn't, as I already know the answer to that. I ordered in-store and quite possibly when my account didn't have an e-mail set up on it. I had my current e-mail added to the account a day or two after the order was placed, but no one knows if I will receive an e-mail with a shipping confirmation because the e-mail wasn't present when the device was ordered. That being the case, it's completely possible that I won't receive an e-mail when my property is shipped. This is why I call them. Unless I receive an e-mail, I will always call them and ask them to specifically check if my phone has been shipped.

Nothing wrong with that. I did the same when I ordered one via the phone and couldn't check the status online.

Actually my Verizon store told me it would be here in around a week despite the 25th as an estimate.

As wonderful as it sounds, it still isn't fair that others are getting theirs in a few days and others 2 weeks despite ordering at the same time.

Its easy to say, "well just wait until the 25th" when people are getting theirs after waiting 3 or so days. It should be a waitlist. And it isn't, don't attempt to justify it.

Even so, the Verizon District Manager said it should be looked at as a waitlist for the entire US. So if we are all waiting in line, how come some just get to skip the line for no obvious reason?

They seem to have no issue sending phones from Ontario to the east coast, for customers waiting a whopping 3 days. On that token, they can't seem to deliver the damn phone from Ontario to my house (10 miles) away, after 9.

    Wonderful logic.

i see. well that makes sense. well, whatever the case, i hope you get it soon! trust me, i certainly know the feeling. they opened up ordering to employees on 7/14. i ordered my phone that day, and didnt get it til the 26th. i didnt even get a ship by date, because it took them 6 days to even process the order (employee orders dont take priority.)

I ordered 2 Droid Xs on 8/7 around 8PM via *611 since Verizon was nice enough to give my fiance and I an early upgrade (7 months early).

I knew the ship by date at the time was 8/25 before I ordered.

I'm not pissed at Verizon, but I am frustrated when coworkers order a week later via 611 and get theirs 3 days later.

I understand the frustration of other members on here, but jesus christ chill out and be patient. It's just a phone, you've got a preorder in, and you've got a ship by date; if not you get a small credit for missing the date. I'm just as anxious to get it as the next person, but my life will go on despite not having a Droid X yet. Stop worrying about other people getting their phone sooner than you (even if they did order later); there are too many variables to lose sleep over. As frustrating as it is, it won't get you your phone sooner by worrying or calling CS 20 times a day.

I guess that makes sense, but considering the demand for the phone... :/

Does anyone even get their phones close to their ship-by dates? Is it more about Verizon trying to protect itself from fees or wanting to look like they're in crazy demand? I'm not saying the Droid X isn't in demand. But the wait isn't as long as you're led to believe and I hate how the Verizon employees are just blindly reiterating the stupid date you already know about. How many people are posting about their relatively quick shipments (as in before their late late supposed ship dates)? Isn't it enough for us to make a tentative hypothesis about how long it would really take for us to get our phones? AKA A week, give or take a few days?

I never said it was fair or that I understood the logic. I just said we're all including customer service just clueless. Nobody has any idea why the do things the way they do or even the logic behind it. We're also not going to unless someone here happens to know someone high up in charge of these things.

I guess I am just at fault for assuming a huge corporation would act logically.

even still, there are some things that are played close to the chest. there is a reason we dont disclose certain things to the customers, and it's a lot because we dont want competitors knowing how or why we do some of the things we do.

I ordered 8-8 online. I could have sworn it said shipped by 8-18 but starting to think I must be crazy since people who ordered around that date are saying the shipped by date was the 24-25. I haven't gotten a shipped notice yet.

Getting anxious waiting but the good thing is at least I've been able to learn how to get going on what will be my first "smart" phone.

It's kind of funny, a co-worker has a droid x and he didn't know he had a swipe keyboard option. I was showing him the magnet trick too.

As for order and received dates go, some are bound to get their phones sooner than expected but I have a feeling that is the exception. You need to take some of these post with a grain of salt. Don't believe everything you read on the net hehe.

Sure. I never said that people shouldn't come in here and say "Dammit, I want mine too - I ordered earlier than you!"

I said that screaming about how crappy Verizon is over it is ridiculous.

You're speculating about Verizon's entire inventory management system based on the reported experiences of a few users on a message board?

Come on now. There's more than meets the eye here. If Verizon felt they could give you good dates, they would.

no, you're not. but you are mistaken in assuming that they dont or arent. we're talking about a corporation that brings in billions of dollars a year in revenue. a corporation owned by vodafone and verizon, which make billions more yet. there are a lot of people that get paid a lot of money to work out logistics, and there is a LOT of logic behind how and what they do. to assume they just do things on a whim, based on a tiny sampling of people (much of which you dont even know whether it is true or not) is just silly. in general, orders are first come, first serve. are there exceptions to the rule? of course. does verizon owe an explanation? of course not. if they promise a date, and they make that date, that is really all that should matter at the end of the day.

now, they could probably come up with a system for CS people to find out a real approx ship date. but what happens when they actually give out that date, and motorola ships fewer units than expected? or what happens if a previous batch was bad, and verizon has to give a portion of the new units to those affected by the bad batch? then your shipment comes late, and more problems are created. so, they do it the way they do to account for unseen variables.

I'm tired of repeating myself or rewording every statement I make so that each and every person here can understand me. For that, I'm done talking about this. There isn't any point in just causing myself more stress, so I'm dropping it.

+1...I'm disappointed that I don't have tracking info yet, but if I get it before the 27th, I shouldn't have any reason to actually complain. I don't understand the shipping methods or rationale, but, to quote my HR manager, "You don't know what you don't know". The phone will get here when it gets here, and as long as it's here by 8/25 + 2 days for shipping...Verizon has lived up to their promise.

I didn't receive an email (which didn't surprise me due to in store ordering) but I did just get off the phone with a VZW cs rep who said that I should have my phone tomorrow. I am trying to plan for the worst and expect it to be delivered on Thursday but I'm excited to know that it's at least en route.

    edit:
Ordered in store on August 9 around 1 pm

FedEx finally updated. My phone is in a city an hour away from me. I wish I could just drive up there tonight and pick it up but I know FedEx won't let me.

In any case, it should be here sometime tomorrow...hopefully early morning, I've got a busy day tomorrow as it is.

Just an update, ordered over the phone at 10pm on the 5th, was told will ship by the 23rd. My phone shipped on 08/13/10 and arrived this morning at 11:30am. So from order date to delivery date is 13 calendar days and 9 business days. I did get a shipment notification email 20 minutes after the phone shipped on the 13th.

    It's pimpy

I ordered mine online on the 10th of August, as of this morning it still hasn't shipped out, at least according to the Order Status Page. It still has the "Your order has been processed, we'll ship it out when we get some in" thing.
