i REALLY want to get samsung galaxy tab but im afraid of better tabs on the verge of launch, like the notion ink tab with tegra 2 is promised to be released before 25th and there are more versions of galaxy tab coming early next year, so how better, will those versions of galaxy tab and other tabs be from the current gen galaxy tab? are they worth the wait?

Do what I do, get one now, sell it when a better one comes out, and get the newer one later :p

I don't know why everyone keeps bringing up Tegra2....yeah,its a beast...but it means nothing right now as far as android is concerned. Android in its current state isn't optimized to take advantage of dual core processors ...might change in the near future, but then again you could wait for moto stingray, and find out it has a locked bootloader(seems to be their m.o. lately). I had the viewsonic tablet w/tegra2...my Sgt is WAY faster. I agree with the post above. I do the same...pandigital novel(sold),ARCHOS 7(sold),viewsonic grab(sold),ipad(on ebay),galaxy tab(sticking around for a while)

If you do this in tech you will never buy anything, you'll always be waiting. Do the best research you can do, make a decision and then don't look back. You can 2nd guess yourself forever because products change so quick. Just make an informed purchase and enjoy it. :)

It's the best Android tablet , and some say any tablet out there. Buy, and enjoy. The Stereo speakers (with the added 5.1 surround) are worth the price alone. $349 for the Sprint version this week!!!

What a chuck of technology in something that fits in (large) cargo pants pockets!

    My plan...Enjoy the tab until...

next summer when the Tab 2 comes out with the new screen and orion processor. Given that the screens wont be produced until June... I bet the Tab 2 wont be out until July/August at the earliest...then factor in inevitable delays and bam you are waiting a year...by the time next year rolls around you'll be at the same cross road. Eventually you gotta bite the bullet and jump in.

If you really care about the processor speed overclock it to 1.2 GHz, the benchmark on those is about equal to the tegra 2 if I remember.

This will hold me until the tab two. I am not that concerned with the new Tegra 2 Motodroid tab really.

One thing I miss...Netflix...they gotta get on that shit asap seriously.

Same for me, except until early 2011 :p

They're working on it and it seems slated for early 2011. There were issues with the Android framework and its support for something security related or some such.

you think the tab 2 is early 2011?

if they want to put that new SAMOLED screen in they cant until the summer. Its not even slated for mass production until June.

If you constantly think about the future, you cant live in the present.

Does that mean if we think about the future we will die in the present?

actually because all the large vendors are selling pretty much the same model, i think is going to be stable for a long while. Software might change, and maybe amoled screen might be in the future, but i think it while hold its value alot longer then any phone.

I'm very interested in one of these, but I'd prefer to wait for the wifi only version.....I just don't want to get stuck with any additional monthly fees per month.

I am with you although I get very impatient so in Jan when I have enough money saved up I think I am going to buy Tmobiles version of the Tab even though I would love a wifi only version.

I played with one of these at best buy again today. I think I'm sold on it. checked out the ipad as heavy, and it was just too big and heavy....not very portable....and thats all specs aside.

The girl at best buy had already bought one and showed me hers with it completely setup...it was nice.

I was anti-3G model, but now I think I can't wait and I could really see the use for it...especially while travelling. Se informed me that you don't need a plan at all with the 3G model. You can't get charged anything unless you set it up....so its wifi only by default unless you activate it with the carrier. That puts me at ease.

I already have an unlimited data plan with my Incredible and have activated the HotSpot myself. I purchased the T-Mobile version because it has the extra 16gb of internal storage that VZW and Sprint do not. I even got it on contract since T-Mobile only has a $200.00 ETF for the first year and $100.00 ETF for the second year. I can cancell after the first year and save a $100.00 over buying it off contract. I have 5gb of no overage cost data for $35.00 so if I find a bad spot for 3g or not signal, I can use my Incredibles 3G HotSpot and surf at VZW speeds. Win Win.

in the uk here. I bought a wildfire for 219.99 gbp and the company threw in a galaxy tab free. I sold the wildfire for 155 on ebay. t-mobile contract with 900 mins and 500 messages for 30gbp a month and 3gig of data. now thats a bargain! can sell tab later on next year when tab 2 comes out.
