And if you do, what kind do you use?
I use the case that came with my Instinct.
Seidio innocase and boxwave antiglare screen protector.
Some random hard case my sister found me. Same texture as the back of the Hero, and same color. Pain in the ass to take off, but I love it
A random hard case I got on Amazon lol. It's pretty though!
Body Glove, which is a softer than the usual "hard case" and I love the simple, light, flip-out stand built into the belt clip that works in either portrait or landscape mode.
ps. and the stand works with the USB cable as well, making it sorta like a docking station ...
just got my otter box in the mail. absolutely perfect.
HTC case from Best Buy...silicone.
HArd case I found on Amazon for $2 lol. It's shitty though I need a better one!
id recommend otterbox. hard plastic/silicone. commuter case that is.
Well, at least there was something from the Samsung Instinct that actually worked! I'm using the leather slip case that came with the Samsung Instinct for my Sprint Hero now.
I used the Boxwave Clearscreen, but I could not deal with the fingerprints. So, I'm now using the Boxwave AntiGlare which is practically fingerprint free, but it does effect the screen when displaying white back-lighting so there is a trade-off.
No case...just naked!
I have a cheap, two part hard plastic shell and I carry the Hero in a Sprint universal leather belt pouch.
A hard pink case and a cow-spotted pleather (pink n white) holster.
Just got an Otterbox case (Commuter Series) and really like it.

I have a hard case and a silicone case. I keep the silicone case on there more since the phone is lighter and it doesnt slide around while in the compartment under my stereo deck in the car.
Seidio Innocase and holster, best out there since Otterbox won't make a holster for the Hero!
I second that.

Silicone case from best Buy and leather case from local swap meet.
Screen protector... Good enough for me!
Otterbox, full body Zagg and a mirror screen protector.
1. Seidio Innocase and holster - awesome everyday setup
2. Sprint silicone cover - occasional use when more cushioning is desired
3. Leather slim case by Hartmann Leather - for low profile naked Hero use
Would love an Otterbox Commuter case but without a holster I have no incentive to go from the Seidio setup.
Overprotective much? I carried my phone around in an Army issue fleece PT hat until I got a chance to pick up a case/screen protector... I am accident prone with phones.
I use a generic leather vertical case and a clarivue screen protector. My husband has a clarivue screen protector and a really strange case that I think is for a camera. It feels like neoprene, but has a coat on the outside that is somewhat hard. It has a zipper all the way around it. He is an auto mechanic, so a protective case is pretty important.
You can never have too much protection. LOL Actually I had the Zagg on my previous phone and loved it. When I got the Hero I immediately ordered one for it. Saw an Otterbox on a friend's Hero and needed one for mine. I use the Otterbox for work, I am in and out of different types of plants and ship yards all day for work(I am in safety sales and inspection). When I get home my Hero likes to undress for the night time.
