just out of curiosity, not many people have commented on how they haven't had much issue with their phones. If you received your EVO V and have no issues with it please post :)

mine's scheduled to be in RS tomorrow

and if you could, provide how you activated the phone?

Mine is working fine, but my first one was already activated on another account and had to swap it. That is why I recommend doing it in-store, but only if.....

IF your account is ALREADY ON a $35 or more plan then you are ok to have them do a phone swap in store. They do the exact same thing you would do online.

Do NOT turn the phone on prior to activation. Swap the phone on your account, wait a minute or two, then turn the phone on and let it cycle. If all is good then it will activate fine. If not, it may error out... you can then go through and punch in the activation code (I think it is ##clear#, but make sure). If you are in a RS they will have this code on their screen.

If you are on a $25 plan, change you plan prior to swapping the phone and then VERIFY your account shows you are on a $35+ plan. If changing from a $25 you have to be active on the $35+ plan to activate, so that means you have to start your month now instead of waiting for the end of your month (unless you want to wait to activate).

    Have fun.

Look, this activation thing is blown out of proportion. Even if the activation process took 24 hours of constant phone calls to VM and standing on your head naked, who cares? (For the record it took me about 15-30 minutes to activate mine, not that bad really)

You only ever activate ONCE. Think it a small price to pay for such a killer phone.

Had minor activation issues, mainly because I was on $25 plan. Working perfectly now. Actually better than perfect, head over to the root forum and get your root access (I don't know about you but I need titanium backup) and wifi tether, and custom recovery. Add the fm radio apk.

If you are on virgin, switching to this phone is a virtual no-brainer.

Actually, here's a big issue I found. The left side of the case, just under the usb jack, when you hold the phone and grip that part against the glass, it's got a squishy spot. I took a little piece of paper, folded it up to the right size, and wedged it in there when putting the back on. No more squishy spot. I think I read about this idea somewhere else with another phone, thanks to that person.

I have to agree, there's 3 of more threads out there right now about activation, not sure what's going on. It took about 4 hours for me to get activated but it's done and the phone is awesome. Like someone said as well, most people wont post unless they have an issue.

I've had mine since Saturday and it is awesome with no issues.

I started my Evo V on a new account in store at radio shack and it operates perfectly.. I Learned about activation the hard way on the 1st OV I got from VM and had a fail.. This is a way better deal that the OV was for a $100 more??
I just checked my memory and it is saying this on my internal :)

Received mine on my front door step via FedEx. Opened the box and took a peek inside behold the EVO V (really a EVO 3D I received the Sprint branded version). Took the phone out put the battery in installed the back cover (feels great in the hand, very solid) powered the phone on. I went on VMUSA website to a phone swap, since I'm already on the 35 dollar a month plan. Followed the on screen steps as far as clearing the phone and making sure the mobile network was enabled and not enabling wifi off the bat as on boot up it wants you too. Entered my MSID number from the phone after clearing it first. Rebooted the phone...boom it was working 3G, 4G, text, and voice. Didn't even have to call VMUSA to get the phone activated. Has been on since yesterday no restarts and freezes. This phone is very eager to do what I tell it do and behaves well. Looks like the EVO will be the phone I keep for the next year or so, thanks HTC. :D

I've had mine since Saturday, and other than a minor hurdle activating (switched from a Triumph with existing $35/month plan) it has been great! I did update the profile and PRL immediately too. No issues so far.

Yes, the move from the Optimus V is surreal. There is no comparison - This is the best phone I've ever used.

If you're on the bridge - then take the jump. It's without a doubt worth it.

I got mine today. After having a minor issue activating, had a error 131 because I activated it with the phone turned on, the vm cs guy told me to power down the phone for 20-30 minutes and that I had already activated it o_o. I did just that and when I turned the phone back on it proceeded to activate and everything is functioning perfectly.

couple of days now without problems (knock on wood). Activation took a little while with a few errors but it kicked in after a few hours.

My activation went pretty smoothly compared to other peoples. Only 1 reboot and that was because I didn't update my PRL so it was confused from tower switches. Other then that, Not a single issue. Very happy.

I had two minor issues that in no way degrade from this phone. Let me state emphatically: This phone is miles better than anything currently available for Virgin and easily on par with today's modern and fast smart phones. You should not hesitate to buy this phone.

The two minor issues I had were activation (as has already been discussed, this was because I tried to switch from the $25 to $35 plan at the same time) and the error code 64 class 2 problem (can't send or receive calls or texts). This was solved with a short conversation with Virgin. It is an issue that has plagued sprint for awhile now.

I think I'm going to have to get a new phone again. No data almost a week, and now, it won't log onto my wifi unless I reboot.

My Evo has been good for the most part, mostly all the problems I think I have though are through Virgin Mobile service I dont know what it is but with all my Virgin Mobile phones I have I noticed that I will have bars on my reception when im about to call but once I place the call the bars go away I dont know if it's because I'm in a bad service area or what. The other problem I had been having is last night I was trying to call someone had good reception but for some odd reason it wouldn't go through so then I found out that because my 3g was off that's why, which is weird because I have had no problem with this any other time so I think it is all problems with Virgin Mobile.

Had some error 131's, then I followed the manual steps the website was showing from when I switched phones.

Aaaaand, now it says I have 2 voicemails (makes sense... been without a phone because I spiked my Triumph into concrete 3 weeks ago) but when I went to check, it had me set up a Sprint voicemail box. Is that how it worked for others?

Purchased mine from RS 8 June 12. Thus far, everything seems to be working fine. I followed the activation tips under "For people with Activation issues" and activation was done in about 20 minutes. Will update post if any issues arise. My EVO V is a significant improvement over my Optimus V

Had the V for 2 days now and can say it functions just fine. Power button clicks, battery life was good ( installed Juice defender , then it was awesome ). Activation was paainless.
Did the swap on VM site, turned off my old phone, went to bed, got up and turned on new phone and it went through the hands free activation and i was up and running in less than 5 minutes and off to work with new Evo WHHeeeeeeee !!!

I *think* the key here was giving VMs network a night to catchup, switch over from my old phone so i was clear to activate new phone. But what do I know?
