How much space in the internal memory should be left free so the phone does not slow down? I am guessing that the Android OS needs a certain amount of free space so it can do its thing.

The app market makes it easy to load the phone with tons of apps; I also imagine that the phone will slow to a crawl iffin there is not enough space available.

Or am I incorrect about how the OS operates?

    Cheers,

    Bob

Technically it shouldn't. I don't think the android OS uses any memory other than RAM to cache.

Yeah its not about free space. You can load up your apps all you want. More critical is how much memory you have. If you max out your system ram and have too many apps running that's where you can get laggy. I mean you want stuff in memory so it opens faster just not too much and certainly only stuff you intend to be in memory
