Their market share is dangerously low :(

im wondering if i should hurry up and get that sensation iv been wanting before they close and the phone is no longer available :(

No ones buying HTC devices anymore.

in fact, you have a higher chance of being hit by lightning than meeting someone that owns an HTC they bought a year ago :(

I hope Q2 is their rain and not death :(

the hope of HTC is on the sales of the EDGE, but if it does not sell then.... goodbye HTC :(

    Concerned HTC fan.

They were a top seller in North America last year, and it was a year of substantial growth for them. The 4th quarter disappointed shareholders as in showed a 2.5% decline in income compared to 2010. Apple oriented press has made this sound like a disaster.

They grew 67% last year with revenue around US$15 billion.

It's far from true that no one is buying their phones. People are buying quite a few of them.

Dangerously low? Last I checked they're still selling better than LG or Sony.

They are on the verge of another year of record growth.

Where are you seeing the information you are going by?

I just showed you their yearly earnings. In December they were in the news as dominating North American market share.

I am not going to Google for non-facts. For all I know, you are reading Apple propaganda.

The idea that I am somehow out of touch on this isn't reasonable.

Post a link with one of these stories that you believe and we can discuss it.

Because your information and conclusion are the opposite of what is actually going on.

When I see people breaking out their smartphone, I often see the familiar HTC clock/weather widget almost as often as an iPhone. HTC isn't on the verge of extinction. In the US, HTC has the highest Android market share and are not too far behind Apple. Worldwide, they place second to Samsung.

    HTC isn't going anywhere.

    OK, thanks. :)

That was from July. In October, sales were up dramatically, as were shares, then sales went back down in November when the next round of patent chatter hit, then trended back up in December after HTC's positive response to all that.

Any news organization claiming extinction for HTC is dishonest.

I have presented financial proof - companies don't go extinct and grow 67% through sales at the same time.

And yes, with the release of the Galaxy S, Samsung became a major force in the Android line-up, 100% agree. I think they were number one worldwide while HTC was number one in the US, with everyone expecting them to hold number one across the board this year.

Almost every person i know is buying HTC's in the last 12 months , iPhones are being ditched by there hundreds as more and more people realise that HTC's are just simply better phones. HTC will without doubt become a market leader and i can almost guarantee your fears are very very unfounded.

Samsung is number 1 worldwide because they still make a lot of dumb phones. I don't think HTC makes very many dumb phones if at all. In terms of just Android devices they may beat Samsung. I don't know, but it wouldn't surprise me. I see a lot of HTC devices around and own two of them myself.

You need to pay closer attention to the articles you read and don't read more into what is being talked about. This article talks about the impact the lawsuits have had on HTC's shares. It says NOTHING about declining sales or that nobody it buying HTC anymore. And also remember, just because a companies stock takes a dip doesn't mean they are in trouble or are going to go under. Stocks fluctuate all the time.

i did not bother to read the link...

    but from the titile:
    in Taipei,
    after apple won a patent
not a surprise that sales fell a little in that one small market!!!!!!!!!

conclusion: can not make any conclusion on over all health of a worldwide company!!!

have you heard of the chicken that claimed the sky if falling? :p

Unless it's Apple. Every time Apple stocks fall people line up to stick forks in them. Cracks me up every time.

It's a little sad, actually. I remember reading a report right after the 4S went on sale. Apple didn't sell as many as they projected, their stocks fell a little bit, and people were predicting the end of Apple. Regardless that they sold 4.5 million in the first weekend and have tons of cash in the bank. It's really sad.

I own a lemonade stand called HTC lemonade. 2 weeks ago, it was hot, sunny skies, and I sold a ton of lemonade. Last week, it rained on 2 days, so I didn't sell as many glasses as the week before.

Therefore, I am going out of business.

If Nokia and Sony are still alive and kicking in the phone biz, then I wouldn't be too worried about HTC. :D

I honestly find it completely baffling. Apple could probably go all year without selling a single device and still survive. They have tons of cash. I believe they operate with no long term debt. They're a solid company.

Samsung is number 1 in Android smart phone sale. HTC is second. Then Motorola et al. So HTC is not going away any time soon.

Do you live in Canada by any chance? Nobody buys Android phones here, period. But the numbers would indicate a much different picture in the States and elsewhere.

They're my least favorite manufacturer, but they're far from being in trouble. I have no idea where you got your information from as I haven't heard anything about them losing money.

A few of my friends have HTC phones. I've checked them out. They're not bad at all. I haven't heard anything about them being in financial trouble either.
