How satisfied are you with Ice Cream Sandwhich (OTA) on your device??

Hey guys,

I just wanted to see and hear other users views and/or opinions on how ICS favors on their device(s).

As for me, it suck big time...I'm using an EVO Design 4g, and it has somehow made this phone really hard to use _ seriously. I'm getting another EVO 3d tomorrow - hopefully it runs a little better on a dual core processor. (Fingers and toes crossed) Lol'd.

Who is to be blamed here..... The manufacturers or the carriers?

I had a system update on my Samsung Galaxy S2, and now that I've done the update, none of the screen widgets change (the light for turning on and off GPS, WIFI, battery strength indicator, bluetooth, etc.) Also, the voicemail indicator widget no longer shows when I have a message. Also, regarding my media player the artists/songs no longer display, and the play/pause button doesn't change. My message indicator light also no longer lights when I have an email/text/etc. HELP!?!?

The only solution at this time is to reset the device. Other than that, hope for an update to fix this one, and then who knows...that update might need an update to fix the bugs it unleashes. A work in progress. Smh!

Yeah, it really is recommended to factory reset your phone after updating.

Back on topic. My galaxy note's battery is now not all that. When it was on gingerbread, it was a beast.

I could root, and put a nice vanilla ics ROM on it, but I've heard certain apps don't work like banking apps for example.

I don't know if this is fair, but my device came with Ice Cream Sandwich. Love it. Currently running CyanogenMod 9 on my Galaxy Nexus.

@ Omar, it seems like no matter which route taken - there is definitely going to be some complications.

I'm sure the carriers and HTC are aware of the situation. The problem is... Do they really care to spend time and money to fix it.

I'm running on a Droid 4. I just got the update last night. It's OK. It makes everything on my phone look sleeker. I can't really tell of any problems with the OS upgrade itself. I mean since the upgrade last night i haven't had my phone lock up or anything like that so i guess u would think i would rate it above average but there is one major drawback for me. They did away with the text messaging part of the inbox widget. I really liked it. I had an LG Ally before the Droid 4 n it had an inbox widget exclusive to text messaging n i absolutely loved it. Then when i got the Droid 4 the inbox widget included Facebook messages n emails. Thought hey more the merrier but now this recent upgrade has came along n they too away the text messaging part of the widget. I am already hating it and there is no widget for text messaging itself. C'mon android. That text messaging widget was the main reason i didn't go with the iPhone instead. Please bring it back! If u guys don't I'm going to switch to the iPhone when i get my upgrade in 2 years.

I did the OTA (UK Vodafone) update on my Galaxy S2 and I must say it was flawless. The phone runs fast and smooth. Everything works perfectly .. really .. I can't think of a single bug. I have 97 applications installed.

After the update I rooted the phone but that was only to run Titanium Backup.

I use Apex Launcher which also seems to give a fairly smooth interface.

Rooted SGS2 (SGH-i777) currently running ShoStock2 rom. Couldn't be happier. Fast, smooth, stable and great battery life. Now, if it only could make me coffee....

i had it on my galaxy s 2 on T-Mobile before i put a custom rom on it, and it made phone worse! Super laggy, the battery life went to crap, and random reboots galore.

Running good here. Evo3d stock, not rooted. Haven't had any real issues so far. Love it

Edit: Was having battery issues, but spent a few minutes making adjustments to sync settings and it's much better now!

I would say I am satisfied with the update, but have to question, why on earth it took forever to release and update, for which it really didn't do much too. I have an HTC Incredible S, and while I enjoy the new ICS update, as now my phone can unlock by face regeneration (sometimes doesn't work) and can finally do screenshots, that is really all it updated (minus a new layout and all.)

There are a few bugs here and there, I have noticed my battery seems to die much more faster now (a bit of a worry) and the keyboard is quite laggy and sometimes doesn't respond at all, but other then that, I am rather satisfied.

I hear ya Rush. A lot of phones really got borked from the update. SGS2, Sensation, now the Gtab 10.1.
For me, ICS has been great on all my devices. I think Google intentionally made it difficult for other manufacturers to skin it over and that's the the Nexus devices run so well. Both my phone and N7 are on JB, but ICS on my Prime is a dream compared to HC.

Rooted and running CM9. Find it's a lot better than ICS on Acer Tablet. Some stuff still doesn't work right on Tablet. I didn't have ICS on phone long enough. I wanted TB back.

Update on how Ice Cream Sandwich is running on my Evo 3D.

Okay, I finally took the plunge and updated to ICS...and frankly, i'm pleased. The only problem i experience was my missing music album. Which after I did a reset was then resynced to my phone.

The overall experience of this update on this phone is totally awesome - I believe the Evo 3D seems to handle ICS way better than most devices. At this point, I'm not even thinking of upgrading my phone any time soon.

Zero problems so far... I hope things will continue being this way for as long as i have this phone.

I up-dated my Droid Razr and my wife's, from Gingerbread to ICS.
Everything works as advertised. (Do the re-set)
We now get great battery life, due to installation of Data Switch. We cut it on when we need it, but keep it off when we don't.
(After a 18-20 hr. day of medium use, I'm usually down to 80% battery)

Waiting for JB.
Why not invent 'Cotton Candy' soon???

From this thread, it seems some parts of ICS will be coming to my phone, but it may not be the full blown version.
