This works on the Galaxy Nexus, Nexus 7 (both), Nexus 10, Nexus 4 and HTC One GPE as well, and countless other devices running version 4.2.x or 4.3. No root, software, or USB action needed, just a few taps in the right places.

One of the features that I missed from my S2 was the forced GPU rendering from the developer options menu. This has never caused me any noticeable adverse effect, largely due to most modern apps using the GPU by default (these apps are not affected by this setting). However, some apps just aren't written to take advantage of hardware acceleration. One such app is Redbox. Even on my S4 GPe, it's a lagfest when scrolling. Using the HW acceleration option has fixed this problem for me, just as it did on my S2. So, here's how to un-hide and re-hide the developer options menu.

    Un-Hide Developer Options:
    -Go to menu, settings,
    -about phone
-scroll to the bottom and find "build number"
-tap it 7 times (upon completion, it will say that you're a developer)
-the menu is now near the bottom of the main settings menu (just above about phone)

    Re-Hide Developer Options:
-go to your apps (menu -settings - apps, or menu - manage apps)
-Under "All," scroll down until you find "Settings"
-Tap on settings and then clear data/cache
-This will NOT reset any settings, it will simply remove Developer options from the Settings menu

Re-Hide developer options are not working in SGS4.

Which version of the Galaxy S4 do you have? Works fine on mine. Just did it again to confirm.

You're both in the wrong forum. We don't have the same phone.

Hot Sauce, you have the AT&T model, which is based on the i9505 (Snapdragon) model, with Samsung's Touchwiz firmware.

Whyiteasy, you have the i9500 (Exynos) model, which also uses Samsung's Touchwiz firmware.

This forum you're currently viewing is for the i9505G, which is the Google Play Edition. This comes with stock Android. No Touchwiz. The instructions in this thread do not apply to your phones.

You're on the wrong forum as well. This is for GPE/Nexus devices.
