    I get a call with a number.

I want to add that person to my People list.

When I click on the number the dialer opens.

I don't want to call the person but add them to my list.

    How can I do that.

I really like the Desire and most of the programs but the Dialer is terrible.

In the dialer at the right of the (Unknown) there is a + ?

You can also set it to prompt when you make or receive a call from a number not in your phonebook.

Phone>Menu>Phone Settings> Tick "Save to contacts"

    Thanks to both of you.

My problem is that I am new to capacitive screens and when I have been hitting the + I end up making a call to the person.

Not happy with the keyboard - it may be me and my fingers but it is not easy to get it right first time around.

To write more than a few lines would be torture.

Have you gone through the screen calibration? Settings --> Language & Keyboard --> Touch Input --> Text Input --> Calibration Tool.

That sets up the screen\keyboard to adjust for the way that you type. It might help make things a bit easier for you... Or you might want to think about swapping your keyboard.. I currently use the Swype beta (currently closed though) and can tell you typing (swyping) is a dream. I'm much faster and accurate the on a T9 or even qwerty.
