I would like to buy a factory-new tablet (Galaxy Tab S6) so I would like to check if the device has ever turned on (since the production date) and also how to make sure no factory reset has done yet.

you can't. if everything is sealed up and you supposedly bought it brand new, i think you should be ok. if anything, the device should be under it's factory warranty. did you buy the tablet at a legit place or online like amazon? or did you buy it from a 3rd party seller?

I guess so but I've still got more options.

I bought it from a big third-party seller (that has been there for a long time); after my purchase I realized that the device had some WiFi usage record after the production date and before my purchase date. So I returned that device to the local warranty company and they accepted to give me a factory-new one in exchange. So now my concern is that I would like to do my checks before I accept their new one and make sure the new one is actually factory-new.

  9. well i mean there could be a chance that the device is used as some companies do try to fix the devices that get sent back to them and well you get the rest

As a friend just confirmed, there is info such as date of last factory reset in the Android settings provided by some manufacturers (but I haven't yet checked if there is such in Samsung Tab S6).

I don't think I've ever seen that on any of my devices (but I don't own that model).

    Good luck.

the only thing i can think of where that kind of info would be on, would be the imei number. carriers use this to see if the device is blacklisted and if you are currently connected
you know, i just checked on my note 10+ and i have in settings>about phone>under factory reset which says none.....i wonder if that is where it will show a date from the last time it was reset???? never really noticed that before.

I'm thinking if it is possible to check when a user factory reset is actually done by checking file and folder dates in Android folder. Say if those dates are prior to the production date, it is probably no user factory reset has done so far.

However, I don't know what dates are given to files and folders in Android folder when doing a factory reset: Are they the present date at the time of the factory reset? Or they are copied from and the same as those of the original recovery source? (if so checking file dates cannot help)

For what it's worth the oldest folder on my Pixel 2 is dated 1 Jan 2009, 8 years before the device was made and in fact more than a year before the first Android device I owned was made (which rules out the date being a consequence of my transferring data from previous devices). None of the 4 file explorers I tried could tell me anything more than the last modification date for any of my folders (that particular one is empty).

Welcome to Android Forums @pluto20c :)

To my knowledge, Samsung's are set to update firmware automatically by default. The only way your Galaxy Tab S6 would have the latest firmware is if it was connected to a data source OTA. A brand new phone will still have the very first firmware that was released bay the manufacturer.
