How to convert Droid x videos for working on a mac

I have just started playing around with the video on my new x. I uploaded some files onto my mac and they opened with Quicktime. Im not sure what format the files were copied in, but I tried to import them into imovie so I could edit them and it doesnt seem to recognized the files I uploaded from the x. Can someone tell me what format the x video is in and how I might convert this to a mac friendly file (preferably for free).

My videos have an 3gp extension. It was easy for me to find a converter that worked on windows computers, I don't know about mac though. Try searching for 3gp converter for mac, I'm sure you will find something.

Handbrake will convert 3gp to MP4 and you can use that in iMovie and handbrake is free!

Like stated above, Handbrake is your best option and works perfectly. This is what I use on a regular basis.
