When I attach the phone to my PC via the USB cable the phone shows up as CD ROM drive G. I am unable to drag and drop to this location. What can I do?

Windows 10 has ridiculous security measures that practically kill drag and drop, copy, paste commands.
I've never found an answer from Microsoft either for this issue. My answer, use any other version of Windows and problem solved

Honor 5X takes a micro-SD. Get a suitable capacity micro-SD, copy all music to that from PC using card reader, put it in your phone. That's how I do it. IMO better that way anyway, having music on micro-SD rather than taking up space in phone's internal storage. :thumbsupdroid:

    BTW I use a Mac, myself. :)

Doubt this has anything to do with Windows 10. My rooted tablet and my S7 works fine with it.

Nothing. I just plug in the phone, set it to MTP and it works. I have no settings that I altered apart from what came with the laptop and have SmartSwitch installed.

So I have a Honor 5X. I used a USB cable and plug into my computer.
I have yet to read on this thread why I can't drag and drop files.
Anyone have a solution to make this work?
I'm trying to drag a e-book file from my computer to my phone.

What format is the e-book in?

Try this. Works for me everytime. Download the app for the phone and get the browser app for chrome or firefox or whatever that third one is called. Edge I think?

    https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.estmob.android.sendanywhere&hl=en

It's really easy and self explanatory.

    Win10..¿?
You need to uncheck/remove driver installation block from PC settings or UEFI & install the device's drivers. The drivers are usually in stock ROM and found when dealing with USB Connection settings. Also, some devices won't give access to any storage while USB debugging is enabled.

Curious, have you tried opening that CD ROM drive? It might need to install software and drivers you know.

I've seen Oppo phones do that. The virtual CD ROM drive might contain the drivers that you need to install.

Open the app on the PC. Drag file and drop in window. Select send immediately.
On phone. Open app. Select receive. Enter 6 digit number from computer. Done.

Windows 10 considers any wireless connection to be an insecure public network. Even when at home. There is a regedit fix but......Send Anywhere works fine for me.

That's just by default. Set them to trusted once saved.
