Anyone know a fix for this problem??
Are you rooted or stock?
Pull the battery, hold down the power button for thirty seconds, put the battery back in and try again.
stock and another thing if I push the power/lock button there used to be a drop down menu-no it only gives the power off option...
If you tried brotherswing advice and it's still not working then you may have to do a factory restore from the privacy menu. This will wipe all user data, so you need to back up your apps with Fast Uninstaller & Installer
All your paid apps will be backed up in the market. Go to my apps.
^ have you tested and trust that app???
I shy away from any app usually that has less then 100 downloads and few reviews.
It works really well. It backs up all downloaded .apks to the sd card. It also keeps every download including the old apk when you have to upgrade to a new version (You can delete any and all if you so desire). This works really well for those times the upgrade is messed up and you need to revert to an older version. It does not save the data though, just the apk.
It's a very good uninstaller as well.
I would not have mentioned it had I not spent quite a bit of time with it, and approved it.
It is the best app for backing up apk's on non rooted devices. When you open it up for the first time it will auto backup every one of your downloaded apps. It will auto backup every app right when you install it as well.
Just needs some word of mouth.
I think the problem is the author uses that "FU" as a logo, makes it look shady / non professional.
might be funny for a sec but dumb in the long run.
emailed him, author wasnt aware what FU meant to most state sides.
Ah, yes. The difference your culture of origin can make....
Had the phone for over a year, and 2-3 days ago, the home key and screen lock stopped working:
Tried that tip, doesn't work
Where do you backup the apps to? USB to PC or to SD card?
Ediot: NM, I read too fast...I saw in Andyopie's earlier post about backups into a SD card.
I'm having the same problem. and the factory restore does not work for me (where you hold the power, home, and down volume buttons).
If the factory reset didn't work you might need to go to the All Things Root sub-forum/All Things Root Guide.
If your phone is over a year old you might need to root and install a custom recovery and ROM.
It could be the stock ROM is messing up, but it could also be the hardware. Try the custom ROM first.
If it doesn't help, Google How to take apart an optimus v (use a stiff guitar pick). Then see if you can clean the button contacts with Electrical Parts cleaner.
A quick note on cleaning electrical contacts. A pencil eraser works wonderfully.
Thanks it worked for me :smokingsomb:
