How to get Android 4.0 + on HTC Wildfire S?

I would be eternally grateful is someone could help me to get an updated android version on my HTC Wildfire S. I am new to rooting and updating, and I have no idea where to start! I want an updated version of android (for example, android jelly bean) because i am a fan of apps and games. The version of android i currently have hardly allows me to download top apps (such as subway surfers, temple run, etc.). I know that I need to root my phone before i download the updates, but I am not sure how to do that . Thanks in advance to anyone who can help me!
