You can get 11 with PandaHome and 7-9 with Home++, DxTop, aHome, GDE, Crazy Home, Sweeter Home, LauncherPro, HelixLauncher, and dozens of others. Unnecessary advertisement is unnecessary.

I use 5 all the time and run out of space all the time.

When you have 150+ apps installed.....and you like to use widgets for ease of information access...

You need a lot of home screens.

how do you have 150 apps. :) that's a lot!

Until 2.2 comes to droid (officially) you can not transfer apps to SD card.

I am afraid of having too many apps..... b/c of the text messages space issues.

I don't use Apps2SD (although you can get it on alternate ROMS like Pete's Bugless and Cyanogen Mod ROMs now), and I choose my apps carefully. I only have like 6 games installed, the rest are productivity and apps that make my life smoother.

Oh, and I avoid very large apps like Epicurious, Merck, and Google Earth :p

There is a very helpful thing called folders

And that adds to a step that I have to find the app I want. Plus, folders don't work well with widgets....

Can you use any of these without rooting?

Launcher pro works without rooting, that's the only one I know for sure.

I didn't think any required root, but since I *am* rooted already, I cannot verify this at all.

Got it Thanks this rocks!!! I love my droid!!!!!
I'm trying Launcher pro first, then I'll see about the others.

I thought so too. I switched to Launcher Pro from Helix, and I don't get all the FC issues I did before.

I have to agree - I thought Helix was the shiznit when I tried it as an alternate to the default,.

LP is not my default shiznit home app until something else comes along.

    So instead of...
    -slide left
    -tap folder
    -tap app

    its now

    -slide left
    -slide left
    -slide left
    -slide left
    -OOPS! missed it
    -slide right
    -tap app

    And that's faster? :p

I just installed Launcher Pro and am getting by with three screens. Beautiful Widgets home on the main screen with 8 of the most common apps I use. The left and right screens are useful stuff and entertainment stuff respectively. I don't use enough different apps to justify having too many for three screens.

No, actually, it's press the home softkey, and pick from a set of thumbnails as to which screen you want to go.

Since you obviously haven't used these apps, try not to denigrate them when you have no clue how it works.

See the screen shot (oh, and this is in Launcher Pro, just in case you're wondering):

I use no more than 8 -10 apps. How do I remove homescreens? I hate that it fouls up my wallpaper pictures that I'm trying to use. Overzoomed & over pixelated - how do I fix this?

Not sure if you are using the stock home launcher, but I know for sure that Launcher Pro allows you to choose how many homescreens you use from 1-7. If you aren't using that, I really do suggest you download it from the market. In my opinion, it is the best launcher out there. Others love ADW, I imagine that you can choose how many screens you have on that launcher as well.

Oh, if you get Launcher Pro, you should spring for launcher pro premium or whatever. The only downside is that you have to pay for it using PayPal i think. gives you the ability to resize widgets, and adds a few pretty widgets to your list. (i will concede that adw launcher has this function for free, but adw seems to make my phone lag a lot)
