Hey guys, im trying to install this rom on my phone but im struggling to figure out how to exactly do that. I thought i could install it via odin but the file i downloaded is a zip file so it isnt recognised by that program. Can anyone give me any advice, i know its probably so simple but for some reason i couldnt find a step by step guide so far.

    Many thanks

Root your device first via chainfire's cf-root

then boot up into recovery mode (vol-up+home+power)
then flash the checkrom .zip file in CWM recovery

So do you use ODIN to "flash the checkrom.zip file in recovery mode" ?????

Nah you have to go into CWM Recovery mode by turning the phone off and then holding Power+Home+Volume Up. In there you can install .zip files by following the menus.

    Oh do behave James! :D

CheckROM v4 is undoubtably the ROM that not only comes with the most instructions on how to install it but also a whole set of videos to take you through every step of the way old boy.

    See here:-

    [ROM][XWKK5][2.3.6] CheckROM RevoHD

Do I need to be on Android version 2.3.6 first? or can I do it with my current version 2.3.5?

I am on XXKI4 at the minute so I think that's fine.

I haven't had my phone for a while I as smashed the screen a few months back so I am currently on CheckROM Revolution v2.0.0

    Thanks

As long as you have the ability to go into CWM Recovery, it doesn't matter what your current firmware/android version is.

However, as you are on an older Android version, I would recommend you do a full-wipe to install. By all means, try it as a non-wipe first, but you may (MAY) find this will cause problems further down the line.

I installed what I thought was my version of android 2.3.6 but whenever it starts up it just says "process.com.android.phone has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again" I just get this in a loop and can do nothing.

    any suggestions?

    Thanks

Edit: Managed to put my phone back to its previous state with Android 2.3.5, but what version do I need in order to get android version 2.3.6 and Checkrom Revolution v4?
