How to make phone think it's another version?

Is there a way/program to make my android think it's another version (I have an eclaire that doesn't have google play and the new apps)

If the hardware can handle it, and you can find a Froyo or Gingerbread ROM, flash that ROM. You can install Play Store on your phone Play Store Install (no guarantee it'll work). The new apps need more hardware power than a phone built to run Eclair has, which is why you can't install them. Even if you had enough space to install them, they wouldn't run.

You can put a Mercedes emblem on the hood of a Volkswagon Bug, but it's still a small car with not a lot of power.

Can you link me a Froyo ROM, or is that not possible as it differs from phone to phone?

ROMs always have to be built for the specific phone model.
