I'm not a dev of course, but I'm sure it's because the dev tools you need to build a custom recoery and a ROM are only available on Linux. Maybe try running a virtual Linux OS in VirtualBox? Of course Android itself is an open source Linux kernel OS, so no surprise that it requires Linux to build it.

Which Tab A is that? TWRP may already be available. I have TWRP for Tab A SM-T350 and there are TWRP recoveries for most Tab A models as well.

WSL is kind of a mess in my experience, due to the way it handles files when compiling TWRP or Android, so I would recommend you to use VBox or simply installing it as dual boot on a separate Laptop, Desktop PC or Hard Drive. Building TWRP requires Minimum 4GB of RAM anyway so you should be fine with VBOX.

NO. It's not a true Linux and can't install the necessary dependencies need for TWRP building. Really need a true native Linux and LineageOS repo properly installed. Personally, I Use "Mint Cinnamon" (Ubuntu/Debian) as it's so close to Windows design, it makes navigation much easier. Any problems/issues you have can be easily rectified using Ubuntu methods. Your other option would be Lindows but I'm not sure much about that one as I've never used it.

    Thank you all for helping!
As I mentioned above I rooted my tab a today with Magisk so no need for TWRP
but I will just keep working on that after I set up the right development environment cause I am very curious about it :)

Excellent! Glad to hear you are happy with your Tab again. :thumbsupdroid: If you DO decide to try TWRP building in the future, don't hesitate to stop by and drop a "Note" :goofydroid: .. see what I did there..?? Lol
