I was recently sent a PDF that is password protected. I have the password and I need to send the PDF to someone else, but without the password protection. How can I save a copy that will remove this password protection so that I can send it to others as a publicly viewable document?

I don't think you can directly without Acrobat Pro. A crude workaround is to use CutePDF which will create a virtual printer on your machine and output a new PDF file without a password.

Could you use the cheapest version of the paid application ($24/yr) ... convert it to a Word document and then print the Word document to a PDF file?

    I found a solution!
    • Dragged the PDF into a Google Chrome Browser Tab
    • Entered the PDF Password to open the file in Chrome
    • File > Print > Save As PDF
This prints the file as a PDF, completely stripping all the other elements found in the PDF and just giving you the "what you see is what you get" version of the file!

This is something that is trivial if you have a Mac lying around: open the pdf in Preview (default image viewing app), enter the password to view the file, then export it to a new file.

(You had to get something for the extra cost of a Macbook ;)).

    There are two options:
    1. Print in Pdf file. There are many products like CutePdf
    2. Open in Acrobat and then Save As. It should work

    Hi
It is very easy to remove password from PDF file. Download Now the FREE PDF Restriction Remover Tool and get your password in the readable text format. I have tried it.
    Hope this will help you!
    Thanks

Google Chrome has a built-in PDF reader* and a PDF writer and we can combine the two features to remove the password from any PDF document. Let’s see how:
    1. Drag any password protected PDF file into your Google Chrome browser.
    2. Google Chrome will now prompt you to enter the password of the file. Enter the password and hit Enter to open the file.
    3. Now go to the File menu in Google Chrome and choose Print (or press Ctrl+P on Windows or Cmd+P on Mac). Choose the destination printer as “Save as PDF” and click the Save button.
