Yep, you will have the stock recovery.

    Awesome, thanks iowa.

A final question, hope it's ok to ask it here...

once I go back to stock ROM, if I want to delete bloatware, can i root, delete apps with an app manager, then unroot or does it not work that way?

Any bloat that comes loaded with the stock package will return once you flash this file in hboot unfortunately. Only other route would be to root, remove bloat, then load just the stock recovery only which is flashed in the same manner from the SD card as a PB31IMG. Guessing you might find it at Doug Pistons site.

Yeah I saw the stock recovery there. Only trick is if its a signed zip or not. If not, you'd need s-off to flash which would probably trigger root verification I'm guessing. Hopefully the signature remained intact, then you could flash as described. Not sure what app manager is but I'm assuming it can't access /system without root. If so, you could.

You can temporarily root using "z4root" to delete bloatware and such. Root access is lost on a reboot.

Just a quick question. I rooted my phone and had gone to CM7. Then prior to the OTA that was "suppose" to come a few weeds back, I went back to stock using these steps. I was in northern WI where I go frequently and all though there is not great cell coverage up there, this time it seemed to be worse. Would going from a non rooted phone, to rooted and CM7, then back to stock using these instructions cause my phone to get worse coverage then normal. Would there be some different radio or the radio from CM7 still intalled? or do these instructions take everything back to stock?

Yeah in this case, the radio reverts to 7.28 which is stock. Is that what you were running on CM7 or other? If so there should be no difference unless they worked in a power mod to boost the radio or something. Haven't heard of that but never know i guess.

I do not recall what radio I was using with CM7. It was the first time I rooted and flashed anything. All I did was download the latest stable version of CM7, didn't install any other radio or anything like that after flashing CM7. Then just followed these instructions to get back to stock. So if I am understanding your correctly, everything "should" be the same as a stock inc...?

Was there an OTA recently?? How does one determine if you have it, and get it if not?

There was a leaked Gingerbread ruu. The fact that they delayed the OTA suggests that it will be retooled before being officially released. There are some known, minor anomalies in the leaked version.

Thanks. And prior-gen Incredibles will receive this OTA? I thought the Incredible was no longer being supported with upgrades...

Verizon recently posted info on their site that we would be receiving the update. It will be 2.3.4 so long as they stay the course. Doubtful they'd back out now that they made the announcement.

Is there a way to "force" the update as a consumer, or do you just have to wait until verizon pushes the OTA?

Once the official ruu is either leaked or released by Verizon, you can force it by using the exact method outlined in this thread...PB31IMG placed on SD card and loaded via hboot (rooted and unrooted user option). Other option is to flash the stock, rooted Rom that someone always releases within minutes of receiving a new ruu (root only option). Final option is to wait for OTA (unrooted users).

Sorry, i phrased it wrong. I mean, once the official Ota is released, do I have to wait to be selected or can I actively seek the Ota somehoe?

Idk, there was something about dialing a series of numbers on your phone keypad..."checkin" something or other. Not sure if it works in all cases or not. Might try googling it.

    Baseband Version: 2.15.00.07.28

The general method would work, but you need the stock rom.zip for your phone, then it would need to be renamed accordingly to be recognized in your hboot. In other words, while we call ours PB31IMG, yours would be something slightly different.

    Thanks!
It's a lot easier to find tutorials for rooting than for returning to stock. :)

I installed the first leaked GB build on my brother's Incredible and now he wants to go back to froyo so he can root and then install MIUI. Problem is we cant get anything to work to go back to froyo. We tried the PB31IMG.zip from first page of this thread and got a " hboot main version is older update fail" and then we tried the RUU and end up with an error 140: unable to update your android phone" error. what the hell? we just wanna go back to froyo so we can use unrevoked to root and then install MIUI. please help. thanks.
