Update:
Finally found this thread at XDA. Works for me.
======================================================================
Apologies for this cross-post but the one in the Root sub-forum has had no reply for three days.
Having trashed my apps and settings in updating from 2.3.3 to 2.3.6 I thought, with nothing to lose, it would be a good opportunity to try rooting my phone for the first time.
The only procedure I can find specifically for the Galaxy S on 2.3.6 is here:
Root Samsung Galaxy S GT I9000 on Gingerbread XWJVU / XWJVZ 2.3.6 Firmware: how to guide | SamsungMobileClub
But the lack of discussion or feedback makes me suspicious so I've waited to hear more. I'd like to get this out of the way first before starting to reinstall and setup all my apps.
Please could anyone confirm that this procedure works or let me know if there's another way.
Thanks.
