The easiest way to tell if a device is rooted is to either look for the Superuser application in your app drawer.
The other easy way is to download Android Terminal Emulator (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=jackpal.androidterm) and then when it launches type "su" at the prompt and press Enter. If you get a Superuser prompt and the $ changes to a # you have root access.
